Travel Cheap With Pete, Playoff Tickets Anywhere:

I will find cheap hockey tickets in any city.  This past weekend I went to Vancouver with my daughter Crystal so that she could take an amazing course called http://www.landmarkforum.com  (I would recommend this course be taken by the Sutters as well).

While my daughter was in the course on Saturday night I decided to go to the Canucks/Kings game.  The ticket cost me more than I normally pay as this one was $100.00.  The person I bought the ticket from had payed $160.00.  Here is a little breakdown of a weekend away to Vancouver from Calgary:
1.Total Cost of Flight - $284.81
2.Hotel - $89.00 per night (http://www.empirelandmarkhotel.com)
3.New Train To Downtown - $7.50
4.Playoff Hockey Ticket $100.00

So in total not a bad deal to get out of the city for a couple of days to the beautiful city of Vancouver, and take in a Hockey game as well.  My secret to finding cheap tickets is to stand about 15 feet away from the scalpers and watch for people that have an extra ticket.  Being close enough to hear what the scalper has offered them but not close enough to piss the scalper off, I can move in and offer a bit more usually with great results.  It does help to only be asking for a single ticket as they are way harder to get rid of.

The people that I bought the ticket from got it from http://www.rosedaleonrobson.com/  They paid $250.00 per person for 1 night stay and the hockey ticket.  The catch to this is it is based on double occupancy.  When I got to my seat there was a white towel sitting there waiting.  As hard as they tried it could not match the Sea of Red as far as I am concerned.

Last season I went on a holiday with my sister Carol and my other daughter Tiffany to Phoenix.  While we were there the Flames and Oilers were coming through town.  I think we payed around $20.00 each person for each game.  While we were at the game proudly wearing our Flames Jerseys, one of the Ushers approached us and told us we could move down to the lower bowl at no extra charge.  There were alot of Flames and Oilers fans there for those games.

Extra for Ken King:

As a President myself, I would like to commend Ken King for standing by his staff.  With the support that he is showing through these hard times it shows well on him and the Team as a whole.  I strongly recommend that Brent Sutter take this course http://landmarkforum.com somewhere down south where he isn't recognized.  It will help him to communicate better with the players.  Everyone will be happier because of this, I guarantee it.

I have to say it somewhere, just for the record. The Phoenix Coyotes are going to win the cup. Not because they have a great team with a great regular season record, but because Betman needs Phoenix to win to avoid moving them to Canada. Watch the penalties, the obscure little infractions you never see in the regular season. They will favor the Coyotes, guaranteed.

                                     If Only

If Only, Theoren Fleury had made the team. I think he would have brought the Flames to a higher level with his leadership and determination. Even though in the past Theoren did not like me. I remember quite a few years ago he told me sarcastically that I should be the G.M. of the Flames. Well Theo back then we had a team but the G.M. at the time believed in a goalie named Trevor Kidd. The same goalie that drove Mike Vernon out of town and after Mike went on to win a Cup in Detroit. At that time the Media and the Flames thought Kidd was the One. When I started my website nhlfixit, my thought was to put my ideas out there to try and help and it seemed like the Media and the Flames worked against me. They spent so much time trying to prove what I had said wrong and make it look as though I knew nothing and that what I had to say was stupid. All I was trying to do was get my thoughts out there and give a different perspective on how I saw things. That is why I started writing again this year, but I think I started to late. While all of this was going on Trevor had the nerve to go to the papers and tell them that if Vernon was there the following season he wanted out. I feel that the team at that point had no choice but to back their decision and they started a slide down a very slippery slope soon after.

If Only, the Flames had signed Fleury. He would have helped get them to that next level, and the song I Believe would have been that extra little kick to get them there.

If Only, we could have kept the team we started with at the beginning if the season. The team was winning games so why change something that is working. I know what I think became the problem and I have no problem passing on my views to the owners through nhlfix consulting for free. I owe them one from a few years ago. Plus I would like to show them that I truly do know what I am talking about and that I do belong somewhere within the organization.

Enough of the If Only this and If Only that, it is all in the past and we all have to move on. The Flames need a fresh new start for the beginning of next season. I will let this go after I have a meeting with the Flames Ownership Group as I believe I speak for the fans of Calgary, and we want to be heard.

                                                 Consulting/Scouting

NHLFIX.com Consulting/Scouting is ready for the up and coming playoffs.  I am looking to work in scouting to help improve your team.  I would like to take on the position with a team that is thought to be the underdog, the one that no one thinks stands a chance to win.  Helping your team in the playoffs will also benefit me in the areas, of my value and credibility around the League.

I have a good eye for hockey and the ins and outs of the game.  I specialize in the areas of team defense and goaltending.  I also pride myself with my work with others and my ability in problem solving.  In my career outside of hockey part of my job is to help make workers and management work efficiently together.

I am based out of Calgary so they are a team that I watch quite regularly.  At the beginning of the season, hockey analysts and the media said they were going to be main contenders in the West and for the Cup.  At the time I did believe and they were on the top of their game until a couple of bumps in the track derailed them.  Unfortunately what I have noticed has not been noticed by Flames Management or the Local Media.  I will share my thoughts on what happened if you give me a chance and call.

Playoff time is where you get to wipe the slate clean and the New Season begins.  The stats are gone and everyone becomes equal.  On that same note I realize that your Scouting Department becomes very busy looking at your opponents weaknesses.  That is where I think I can truly excel and help your team.

Being Canadian the song I Believe is etched in my brain from the Olympics.  I truly do Believe, that song and the support of the fans helped with the confidence and helped our athletes get to that next level.  So put the song on and let your team listen to the words.

C.c. all Potential Playoff Teams as of April 1, 2010---This is not a joke I would truly like to help.

Yours Truly,

Story of the week for March 17th 2010 St Patrick's day

The Media and Myself

My memories of the old nhlfixit.com  from a few years ago come back to me.

At the time I had fun with the media .  The ones that liked measked why I quit writing because they liked what I had to say The ones that did not like what I had to say, I liked them even more because they would write the exact opposite of what I wrote.  Sometimes a full page on the front of the Sports Well those days are gone I did rant a lothated it when players were sitting out for more money nothing of what their team hadone for them seemed to matter.  It was all powered by the mighty dollar.  Well now it seems like those days are gone, the players are now being traded because the teams can't go over the cap, witch has all gone out of control now, that is a story for another day.

Just like in my paswriting, I write it the way I see it.  Sometimes I read some of the sports media in this City, wondering if we were watching the same game,  and asking myself why?  Mistakes are good to make as long as you learn from them, I know in this business you can't afford to make to many of them  or  you 're not going to be around.

With my past website I did contact General Managers, Owners, Scoutsmany Players and most of the Media in Calgary.  I told them it's off the record and  I kept my word, I'm still the same today, it will be off the record.

Thanks to all my old friends around the world that got back to me,  WOW!!!  Loads of them are still travelling and lots of people really knew what I meant by I believe .  I sent out about 300 emails to everyone on my email list, it was so nice to hear from you all. I'm off to Cuba again next week.

Now it's up to you the media to tell the players to really believe so they will get to the next level .  I still believe they will make the playoffs  this season, write and  say the truth even if it is not good, so they can improve together as a team.

c.c. to all Calgary media via email no worries I'm not going to be back for long, next season I will have someone else take over. Your friend Peter Montgomery www.nhlfix.com

Story of the week for March 8th 2010 www.nhlfix.com

I Believe!  The Theme song for our Canadian athletes during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics:

To most people I Believe are just words, we used it big time in Canada during the Olympics.  Every t.v. station had it on , everywhere in the country heard it.  From a song that our athletes heard over and over again until they  believed in themselves, we received the most  Gold Medals  ever in any winter olympics.  Not taking anything at all away from our athletes, as they worked so hard to get to the top. They showed great perseveirance and the belief in themselves to get there.  I applaud all of our athletes for their efforts during the games.

I believe the Calgary Flames can make it to the playoffs.  All they have to do is Believe that they can and really do it.  But it has to come from the coaching staff first, by not airing the teams dirty laundry to the media.  Instead treat the players like they are their own family, stand up for them, go to bat for them, make them feel like they are worth it and then they will come together as a team again and believe in themselves again and they will get to the next level.  I believe they can do it.  Believe me

Believing in yourself will make you so much more powerful and they will gain so much more confidence in themselves.  Put it in their heads over and over again I believe, I believe and I believe until they really feel it, then watch the change in them, they can and will do it, just believe.

Sometimes the story of the week comes to me in the middle of the night, like this one did.  Yes 2 a.m. Sunday morning, it's like someone wakes me up and tells me what to write.  No I'm not drunk or on drugs, but I am spiritual and things do come to me easy.  I do believe we still have a team that will make it, all they have to do is believe in themselves again, win a few games, get the fans back into the game, that will help big time. We all know it's the great fans in Calgary that can give the team the extra player on the ice.  If the fans believe, the energy will only take the players to the next level and that extra player (the higher power) will show up.  Remember 2004 the Calgary Flames were underdogs, I am the higher power at least that's what all my ex girlfriends all said  (Oh God), lol... got to have some fun.

Play the song all the time, (I believe) in the dressing room tell the pilot on the plane to announce it (I believe) over the p.a..  O.k. now I'm going to far, some people on the plane might get scared by saying I believe, so play the song on your flights, watch what happens, to the team (family) they will all gel again.

b.c.c. my email address book to all my friends around the world I have met over the past few years even if you don't know hockey, it's about believing and how powerful it can be, you may not have heard from me in awhile, please drop me a line anyways to let me know how your doing.  I'm still doing my travels of the world, mostly Cuba and Mexico for the last little bit.

Story of the week February 9th 2010

The Past is gone!

Yes 2004 is just a memory that we all have to let go of, even though it was a team of grit, speed, chemistry and big time heart. Oh yeah you can’t forget about the fans, they were also a big part of the team . They gave the team the extra energy needed to bring the team to the next level, it was a team that was built by Al Coats, Craig Button and yourself Darryl .  I also remember that the team cost half the price of what the big money teams paid for their team, it goes to show you it does not take money, you don't have to make the cap, again, again and again you can’t buy a team, you have to build it, remember 2004?  NO I don’t live in the past even if it was a good thing, as long as I have learned what went good or bad along the way.

I think all you need right now is a good backup goalieyou're going to have to give Kipper a rest and I think Kipper needs some competition against him someone that will get him to the next level right now.  What I see, is he really thinks he's the team, and that will bring down the moralof the team, plus a good scout on the opposition will see all his weak spots and I see he has a few, maybe I should become a scout again.

My wish list : Please get us a good goalie to compete with Kipper I see Kipper likes to blame everyone else for the puck going into the net,   it’s a  team sport and I think the player’s would  like to play in front of a goalie that appreciates them as a teamKipper sometimes forgets it's a team game, I see it, I think the players more than see it and they feel it too, that he is not a team player because he really thinks he’s the team.  Another thing I would like to add to the list: Find a leadersomeone like a Messier, Messier helped Gretzky back in the Oiler days. We need someone that can work with Iginla to take the pressure off of him so he can play his game, a leader that’s not afraid to stand up for his teammate’s even if it is the coach he has to take on.

Hey Darryl would you like to meet for a coffee during the Olympic break, it will all be off the record.

Good luck to my friends, From Sweden Nicki & Lisbeth,  from America Mel & Deb and my Russian girl Tanya, good luck in the Olympics hockey.

Open letter delivered to Ken King and Darryl Sutter on February 3rd 2010 about 2:00 pm

WARNING!!  NHL,  I’m Back:

I’m back, funny the past month people I have not heard from in years have contacted me, asking me if I can start writing again.

The old nhlfixit.com Is gone, the NHL bought the domain name a few years ago, I have a new domain name nhlfix.com and yes I’m going to start writing again and hopefully the fans will also send their thoughts and views of the game that I will post on www.nhlfix.com

I think we have trouble in Sutter land, I think we had a good team a team that could have taken us all the way to the top, can’t blame the player’s or the scouts, they are told what to do or what the Sutters are wanting out of them. Too bad for the team the Sutters are tunnel vision in  their thoughts of, their way or the highway.   Wake up guys this is 2010, things have changed, no I’m not saying the players take over the team, just change your ways, you can’t control what you want so open your mind (ways)and let them play their game show their skill that got them to this level and then watch them have fun again, when you feel good about yourself then there is nothing stopping you to get to the next level.

Mr. Sutter, as you can see I’m no kiss ass but you need someone like me on the team, that’s what I do for a living, I see and listen to people also stand up for them when they are afraid to speak their mind.

This is only the start of the new NHLFIX.com

The bottom line: The Sutter’s have to get out of the box (tunnel) and change their ways, because it has not been working their way.
